Despite close to 80% of Beacon Hill being decimated in the 2016 wildfire, the residents of the area have been quick to plan and rebuild the area back to the thriving community it was before. The pre-fire community of Beacon Hill was a mature neighbourhood that had a real estate market filled with a variety of manufactured homes, single-family homes, and townhouses. The wide, well-lit and tree-lined streets are reasonably quiet, largely because the area doesn’t directly feed into any of the surrounding communities.
The area presents a great opportunity to purchase and build a dream home on a serviced and ready-to-go vacant lot. Most of the lots are available for affordable prices and some of them are centrally located to great local amenities including the Frank Lacroix hockey arena, the two local schools, park space and the local dog park.
There are many Beacon Hill homes for sale that came through the 2016 fire completely unscathed. One type of home you might encounter would be a spacious five bedroom, three bathroom bungalow that was built in the 1970s. These types of homes tend to have undergone extensive renovations and have newer kitchens. Those kitchens usually have an abundance of counter and cupboard space, which is perfect for storing away your kitchen gadgets or Tupperware collections. The bungalow-style homes might also have large master suites, gas fireplaces, and a fully fenced yard, so that you can let the kids and pets run to their heart’s content.
Beacon Hill is the home to many things including great schools, a community hockey arena and abundant parkland. Both Beacon Hill and Good Shephard schools are based in the northern part of Beacon Hill. Both schools have a good rating of 7.8 and 7.2 respectively. Beacon Hill School is an APPLE school, which means that they focus on promoting good health and have a School Health Facilitator that is trained on ensuring the children are engaging in healthy eating routines and getting a good amount of physical activity per day.
For Sunday shopping, the Northern Lights Shopping Centre is less than 15 minutes away by car. The shopping centre features a wide variety of stores including large grocery stores, clothing stores, sports stores and a handful of banking facilities.
